Academic Programs

The department offers a fully accredited BS Electrical Engineering program and HEC approved two master and a PhD program.


Started in 2009, the BS Electrical Engineering Program is fully accredited from Pakistan Engineering Council. It offers two specializations: Electronics and Telecommunication, and Power Systems.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The faculty has defined the educational objectives of BS Electrical Engineering Program with input from our affiliates and alumni. They are related to abilities of our graduates three to five years after graduation.

PEO1: Technical Proficiency: Building on fundamental knowledge, graduates should continue to develop professionally and ethically within and across disciplines.

PEO2: Communication and Management Skill: Will be endowed with effective oral and written communication skills to lead teams in multi-disciplinary environments.

PEO3: Global Society: Contribute to society in electrical engineering with an understanding of contemporary issues he/she will apply his/her knowledge in electrical engineering for the betterment of society.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

  1. i. Engineering Knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. ii. Problem Analysis: An ability to identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
  3. iii. Design/Development of Solutions: An ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. iv. Investigation: An ability to investigate complex engineering problems in a methodical way including literature survey, design and conduct of experiments analysis and interpretation of experimental data, and synthesis of information to derive valid conclusions.
  5. v. Modern Tool Usage: An ability to create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling, to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. vi. The Engineer and Society: An ability to apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice and solution to complex engineering problems.
  7. vii. Environment and Sustainability: An ability to understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
  8. viii. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.

  13. BS Electrical Engineering Program Course Plan

The department offers two master’s programs: Master’s in systems Engineering and Master’s in Electrical Engineering.

MS Systems Engineering program was launched in 1988 to fulfill the skilled manpower requirements of strategic organizations in the area of instrumentation and control. The program focuses on teaching and research in the fields of advanced control, applied electronics, signal & image processing, robotics & automation, and machine learning. This program spans a period of 2 years, comprising 5 regular semesters covering 69 credit hours. Seventeen batches have already graduated under this program and 2 are currently pursuing their studies at the institute. The graduates of the program are potential contributors to academia, R&D organizations, control and automation, and software industries of public and private sector organizations in and outside Pakistan.

The first batch of MS Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power has been launched for the session starting in Spring 2015. This program will take benefit from teaching experience and research expertise of existing faculty at graduate in diverse areas in tandem with state-of-the-art lab facilities.

The research work on a topic of choice but related to electrical engineering, control systems and automation. Thesis will require an international review and minimum 3 publications in reputed journals.
